Um homem sentado ao sol no exterior de uma casa de madeira. Parece isolado entre os extensos campos. Vemos sinais de obras e máquinas aqui e acolá, uma cidade no horizonte, um lago, uma autoestrada nas proximidades e muitos outros sinais que talvez nos possam dar algumas pistas sobre o enredo. Mas quem é este homem? O que está ali a fazer? Será que construiu a casa? Se sim, porquê? Com que propósito? O que está a acontecer? O que aconteceu antes desta cena? O que irá acontecer após a mesma? Cabe ao espectador descobri-lo considerando que a narrativa é deixada em aberto.

As obras de Sérgio Leitão procuram explorar conexões entre diversos campos do conhecimento, sendo frequentemente apresentadas sob a forma de instalações contextuais no cruzamento entre a escultura, a pintura e o vídeo mas também peças autónomas em diversos media. A sua obra ‘O CONFINADO _ THE CONFINED MAN _ DER EINGESPERRTE MANN’ (2020), filmada nos arredores de Viena, apresenta-nos um enredo interrompido que remete para coordenadas do tempo presente.

Bio

Sérgio Leitão (Monte Estoril, 1971). Programa de Estudos Avançados e o Doutoramento em Artes Visuais (FBAPv/UVIGO); Licenciatura em Artes Plásticas (ESAP); Programa Independente de Artes Visuais (MAUMAUS); Programa Gasthof (STÄDELSCHULE); Programas de Escultura / Fotografia (ArCo) e Videoarte (FUNDAÇÃO CALOUSTE GULBENKIAN). Prepara a performance Holzfällen. Eine Erregung  _ Plastikkonzert, NOTGALERIE, Viena (com Renata Portas) e um projecto em Milão, em colaboração com a VIAFARINI e o  ISTITUTO INTERNAZIONALE DI STUDI SUL FUTURISMO. A man sitting in the sun outside a wooden house. He seems isolated among the vast fields. We see signs of construction works and machinery here and there, a city on the horizon, a lake, a nearby highway and many other signs that may give us some clues on the plot. But who is this man? What is he doing there? Did he built the house himself? If so, why? For what purpose? What is happening? What happened before this scene? What will happen next? It is up to the viewer to find out as the narrative is laid open.

Sérgio Leitão’s works seek to explore connections between different fields of knowledge, frequently being presented in the form of contextual installations at the intersection of sculpture, painting and video, but also autonomous pieces in several media. His work ‘O CONFINADO _ THE CONFINED MAN _ DER EINGESPERRTE MANN’ (2020), filmed in the outskirts of Vienna, presents us with an interrupted plot that deals with our current times.

Bio

Sérgio Leitão (Monte Estoril, 1971). Advanced Visual Arts Program and PhD (FBAPv / UVIGO); Degree in Fine Arts (ESAP); Independent Visual Arts Program (MAUMAUS); Gasthof Program (STÄDELSCHULE); Sculpture / Photography (ArCo) and Video Art (CALOUSTE GULBENKIAN FOUNDATION) programs. He is preparing the performance Holzfällen.
